Development giant Lend Lease has today announced its launch of Lend Lease Solar, an arm of the business established to provide solar energy to over three million Australian households.

According to Bovis Lend Lease managing director Tony Costantino, the new arm was launched in response to the federal government's $60 billion energy target aims over the next 10 years.

"There are over six million detached dwellings in Australia and less than 100,000 of those have solar," he said.

"With energy prices predicted to increase 20 per cent year-on-year over the next three to five years, we see enormous potential in the solar Photovoltaic (PV) market."

Under the sustainability initiative, Lend Lease will develop and deliver solar PV installations across the residential, commercial and energy generation sectors. To facilitate this, Lend Lease Solar will establish supply partnerships with global solar companies, to provide silicon PV panels.

"Solar energy is the most flexible form of renewable energy in Australia and solar is a key platform of our sustainability strategy," Mr Costantino said.

"We believe Lend Lease is well positioned to take the lead and meet the growing demands in renewable energy from businesses and homeowners, as well as ensuring that solar is a consideration on every project."
