Australian auctioneer Jason Andrew has taken out the 2010 Australasian Auctioneering Championship, securing the win after a tough battle on New Zealand soil.

According to REIA president David Airey, the Australian auctioneer’s win represented the fourth consecutive victory for Australia in the annual auctioneering championships.

“New Zealand came with the best they had to offer and were desperate to take out the 2010 championships,” Mr Airey said.

According to Mr Airey, Mr Andrew was selected as this year’s winner because of the “outstanding talent” he demonstrated throughout the competition.

“A champion auctioneer needs to put on a show, but also prove that they have the technique that will translate into a sale,” Mr Airey said.

“Jason showcased a performance which was clear, concise and theatrical.”

Mr Airey also congratulated runner-up and REIA Senior Auctioneer of the Year for 2009 Damien Cooley of NSW, as well as finalist Michael Fenn of South Australia and all other participants.
