In a bid to expand its geographical footprint, local agency Harcourts has partnered with California group, Altera Real Estate, to enter the US property market.

The joint venture will represent the company's biggest undertaking, with the overseas expansion including 750 salespeople in total, 25 offices based in the state of California, and one office in Hawaii.

Harcourts International managing director Mike Green said that the move had generated a great response in the US.

"Many have commented that Harcourts is a breath of fresh air in the uncertain US market," Mr Green said.

"We've also had a great response to the Harcourts systems, particularly our business planning and accountability process." he said.

According to Mr Green, the Harcourts Group together with their joint venture partners have set some key objectives, starting with establishing a strong foundation in the California market before expanding their operations into the rest of the US.
