New real estate agents are finding strength and support amongst themselves, with a group established just 12 months ago in NSW attracting interest from an increasing number of industry members.

The Young Agents group, the brainchild of Eddy Piddington of Cunninghams Property, Adrian Bridges of Belle Property Mosman and Braden Walters at True Property, reconvened this week after a short hiatus on the back of demand from agents wanting to attend the forum.

The most recent forum, held Tuesday evening at Belle Property Neutral Bay, in Sydney’s lower north shore, featured a presentation by agent and sales coach Mat Steinwede.

Mr Steinwede, who operates two McGrath franchises on NSW’s Central Coast, gave participants a clear understanding of the hard work involved in becoming a successful agent. This included having a clear commitment to the job, and the value of prospecting and getting out and about. “You have to see yourself as a corporate athlete,” he told the around 50 attendees.

Mr Bridges told Real Estate Business it was the rawness and honesty of Steinwede’s presentation that appealed to attendees. He said new agents were seeking this type of honesty when it came to learning about what it took to succeed in the industry.

Mr Walters said the group focused on providing a non-competitive and open forum where participants could learn from each other. To encourage this only a limited number of agents from one territory were allowed to attend, with the majority in attendance coming from Sydney’s northern suburbs, lower north shore and inner city.

More agents from the city’s south and west, along with other parts of NSW, were more than welcome to attend, Mr Walters said.
