Agents battle for auction title

Some of the country’s best auctioneers will take to the stage today in Melbourne at the NAB Australasian Real Estate Institutes’ Auctioneering Championship.

The final, which is open to the public, will take place today between 1.30pm and 3pm at the Sofitel Melbourne.

The 2011 finalists are Mark Sumich (NZ), Michael Fenn (SA), Andrew North (NZ) , Charlie Powell (NSW) and Adrian Butera (VIC).

Neil Laws, chairperson of the steering committee encouraged anyone with an interest in the property market to attend.

“The competitors represent the most professional and skilled auctioneers that each state and New Zealand has to offer.

“The auctions will be entertaining as well as a display of skill.

“The competitors have spent countless hours preparing for the event,” Mr Laws concluded.

The winner last year was Jason Andrew from Queensland.
