Pamela Bennett has been re-elected as Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) chairman for a further two-year term as part of the industry body’s board of director elections held earlier this week.
Existing directors Paul Curtain, principal of Place Estate Agents in Bulimba; Michael Davoren, managing director of RE/MAX Australia; Deborah Duffy of LJ Hooker Cairns Central; and Robert Honeycombe, principal of Bees Nees City Realty in South Brisbane were also re-elected for another two years.
Ms Bennett said the return of four existing directors ensured the REIQ was well-placed to grow and adapt to the economic conditions over the next two years.
“Cumulatively these directors have decades of experience in the real estate profession which has served the REIQ and its members well during the challenges of the past two years and also augurs well for the future,” she said.
Jonathan Blocksidge, of Blocksidge & Ferguson Limited, has been elected to the board for the first time.
“Jonathan comes from a very long-line of real estate professionals with his family’s agency first opening its doors more than 120 years ago in South Brisbane,” Ms Bennett said.
“Jonathan is also the fourth Blocksidge to be elected to the REIQ Board, following on from his great-grandfather George, who was vice-president when the REIQ was formed in 1918; his grandfather Norman, a life member and president between 1941 and 1945; and his father Bruce, a life member and president between 1975 and 1977.”
Jonathan O’Brien, managing director of CB Richard Ellis, stood down after two successful terms as a director of the REIQ.
