Some of Victoria’s finest talent was recently showcased at the Stockdale & Leggo 2011 Awards night, held in Docklands in Melbourne last weekend.

"It has been a tough year for real estate, but there were some outstanding results," Stockdale & Leggo chief executive, Peter Thomas, told Real Estate Business.

While the group's finest were all on display, Stockdale & Leggo Croydon stole the show, sweeping up 14 awards, including rookie sales person of the year (David Czislowski), number one and number three salesperson(s) of the year (Lee Fenech and Sean Cantelo, respectively), and top office of the year.

Yet despite the impressive results, Chris Price, sales manager of Stockdale & Leggo Croydon, said the office does nothing out of the ordinary. Instead, it excels by focusing on the fundamentals of selling real estate.

“Why would someone walk into a real estate office? It’s obvious, they want to see homes and receive advice on properties in the area, and this is something I tell my sales guys each day,” Mr Price told Real Estate Business.

“We have been number one for five years running now, and there is no real trick to it. We just get in and get the job done, but more importantly get the job done correctly.”

According to Mr Price, getting the job done "correctly" means utilising the basics of selling real estate, which he believes are; prospecting the local market, following up with clients and potential home buyers, upholding professionalism in all dealings, and giving honest and accurate advice.

“People ask what are we doing that is so different, why are we so successful, and I tell them I really don’t know how to answer that,” Mr Price said.

“We concentrate on getting the job done right from day one, and as a result most of our business comes from repeat and referral business.”

Stockdale & Leggo Croydon, which has 13 staff and is located approximately 33km east of Melbourne, achieved commission values of in-excess of $1.4 million, and recorded the sixth highest property management net growth for the year.

"It is great to see all those that have really put in, rewarded for all their hard work," Stockdale & Leggo training manager James Wardrop said.
