North Queensland property investors and buyers have the rare opportunity to become the happy owners of up to three crocodile farms.
The three crocodile farms, which include 8,500 crocodiles in stock and another 2,500 set to be purchased, are being sold through agent Simon Bollom from Professionals Surfers Paradise.
Mr Bollom said the three farms, which also include a barramundi farm, were worth a total of $12.5 million.
He said there was growing international demand for crocodile skins, and an investor could sell up to 5,000 skins annually within three years.
“I think this is an incredibly rare opportunity and one which I think will attract interest from international buyers,’’ said Mr Bollom.
“There are only 13 farms in Australia, and this business owns three of them.”
The three farms include Johnstone River Crocodile Farm (Innisfail), Melaleuca (Mareeba), and Harvest Homes, 50kms south of Cooktown. Harvest Homes also has barramundi farming.
Mr Bollom said the business had concentrated on increasing the infrastructure and crocodile numbers in order to reach a high number of quality skins and by-products.
“They have now reached a consistent production level and are moving forward to being able to increase numbers on a much higher level,’’ he said.
“The world market demand for saltwater crocodile skins has been very strong over the last three or four decades with only a slight change towards farms producing quality high grade skins.”
