Victorian real estate network hockingstuart will open three new offices this month.

“This is unusual for us,” hockingstuart chief executive Nigel O’Neil told Real Estate Business in relation to the multiple openings.

Mr O’Neil said the opening of three new offices – in Dandenong, Melton and Bundoora – in such a short time frame was more to do with the opportunities that were made available to the Group rather than any change in their steady growth strategy.

Mr O’Neil said he remained focused on opening around four new offices each year, and would not rule out taking the brand interstate “in the next few years”.

The launch of the Dandenong office - which opened on Australia Day - will bring to the total number of hockingstuart shopfronts to 47.

According to new Dandenong office directors Ritesh Saigal and Shan Sutharsan, the opening was prompted by significant development in the region as Australians look to combat Melbourne’s issue of housing affordability.

“Dandenong is a greenfield site where housing affordability attracts many first home buyers, young families and investors to the area,” said Saigal. “Over the years, it has increasingly become the meeting place for the diverse cultural communities in Melbourne.”

In addition, the Victorian state government has recently renewed Dandenong attractions Lonsdale and City Street as part of its $290 million ‘Revitalising Central Dandenong’ initiative, a program aimed at developing the suburb and driving population and business growth in the region.

“This is an exciting time for the area as it expands into a city-like hub located in Melbourne’s outer south-east,” said Saigal.

Mr O’Neil said the Dandenong office opening supports the network’s plans to have statewide coverage in Melbourne.

“We already have a strong foothold in the inner-city, western and bayside suburbs, and this move into Dandenong cements our expansion into the south as well,” he said.
