LJ Hooker has launched 582 new local mobile websites as an increasing number of Australians search for property using smartphones and iPads.

“Consumers in our fast paced technology driven world expect relevant local information delivered to them immediately and are increasingly turning to their smartphones and tablets to conduct their online research,” said Georg Chmiel, chief executive officer for LJ Hooker.

“The numbers are staggering,” he said.

“There is more than 60 per cent penetration of smartphones in Australia, with 100 per cent of users conducting local searches on their internet-enabled phones. But it’s what they do next that is important.

“Nearly half of them go on to phone the local business or visit their website, and 45 per cent actually visit the business in person.”

LJ Hooker’s announcement comes shortly after both realestate.com.au and Domain surpassed one million downloads of their respective apps.

Mr Chmiel said the mobile websites offer consumers the immediacy they are increasingly looking for.

“In addition, these new mobile sites offer each franchisee the opportunity to personalize their information to showcase their local services and their customers’ properties to the increasing number of buyers looking for immediate data,” said Mr Chmiel.
