ACTON Real Estate, a WA-based group of around 20 offices, has appointed a new operations manager as part of plans that will see it add up to 12 new shop fronts in the next year and introduce a company-wide customer database system.

"We're very much focused on growth in the next 12 months," ACTON Real Estate managing director, Graeme Baxter, told Real Estate Business.

Mr Baxter said the company has plans to open five new offices in Perth, and another seven in WA regional centres including Karratha, Geraldton, Broome and Bunbury. The first new office is set to open late this month in the southern Perth suburb of Rockingham, with another set to follow in Coogee.

As part of this expansion, ACTON has appointed Alan Baxendale, formerly the sales manager at Perth-based Davey Real Estate.

“He will also be assisting me with the recruitment and introduction of new and exciting regions to the group, with a special emphasis on the [Perth] northern beaches and regional locations,” Mr Baxter said.

Mr Baxendale, who is a licensed real estate agent with 16 years' experience both here and in the UK, will also be charged with implementing the PortPlus CRM and database across the group.

“He is an acknowledged expert on the PortPlus system and has accepted the mandate to ensure that all our sales executives and region administrators across the group fully understand the many attributes of the PortPlus system and the client relationship marketing benefits that it offers,” Mr Baxter added.

Mr Baxter said both new and potential franchisees have particularly liked the group's internal systems and support, and Mr Baxendale's appointment was aimed at maintaining the company's standards in this regard.

In another company announcement, ACTON West has been renamed ACTON Cottlesloe.

ACTON Cottlesloe director Bev Heymans said it was a logical choice, as the new name better reflects their market.

"We've found that people associate us with Cottesloe,” she said in the latest company newsletter. “They already think of us as ACTON Cottesloe, not West.

“The new name will also boost our recognition on the internet. People search for us as Cottesloe agents, but because we are located in Peppermint Grove and called West we don't come up in the results.”
