John Haley, of Barry Plant Eltham, has been named the Victorian group’s number one salesperson at their recent 2012 Awards for Excellence evening.

"I've been chasing that number one spot for a long time so was thrilled to finally achieve it," said Mr Haley, who sold the most value in real estate out of more than 400 sales consultants across the Barry Plant network.

The 54 year-old is proudly 'old school' in his approach to sales and says person-to -person contact far outweighs social media when it comes to selling properties.

"This award is a team effort and the result of years and years of hard work,” he said. “I've got a good team around me and it all just came together for me this year. It has given me the impetus to continue improving."

Hot on Mr Haley’s heels was Ray Harb, 27, of Barry Plant Point Cook, who due to the volume of properties he listed and sold was named Top Seller, Top Lister and Top Achiever for the third year in a row.

Mr Harb was ranked 22nd in the recent Real Estate Business Top 100 Agents list, landing him the top young gun award.

Barry Plant Rowville beat off more than 80 other Barry Plant offices to regain its previously-held position as the group’s number one agency.

"We had the highest number of sales across the board and also the highest number of private sales," said Barry Plant Rowville managing director, Brenton Wilson.
