Seasoned veterans and newcomers alike battled for a spot in the LJ Hooker Icon and Idol Auction competition last weekend.
Scott Gemmell from LJ Hooker Project Marketing in Brisbane won the ‘experienced’ section of the competition, beating seven finalists to claim back-to-back wins following his 2011 victory as a ‘rookie’.
Sam Paynter from LJ Hooker Pakenham in Victoria claimed the ‘rookie’ title this year, also defeating seven other contenders.
LJ Hooker introduced the Icon and Idol competitions seven years ago to encourage experienced auctioneers to test their skills against their peers and to unearth new talent in the real estate industry.
The training provides role models for up and coming auctioneers as well as showcasing the skills of auctioneers in live scenarios before a large crowd of LJ Hooker employees.
Graeme Hyde, head of the LJ Hooker Institute training team, said the future looks bright for the network.
”I am very excited about the quality of LJ Hooker’s auction culture after seeing the depth of talent – in particular the standard of our young auctioneers,” Mr Hyde said.
“To sell properties via the auction process takes a highly skilled team, and the LJ Hooker Icon and Idol experience and training helps ensure our agents deliver the result our customers are expecting – a successful sale.”
