Women have outshone the men at the ACTON Annual Awards, with four ladies being nominated for the top salesperson award, while the group’s top business is run by a woman.
“Women have definitely made their mark this year, but it really comes as no surprise,” said ACTON managing director Graeme Baxter.
“When it comes to buying and selling real estate a woman is often the key decision maker. The man might be the spokesperson, but behind the scenes the woman has a lot of influence. A lot of male agents forget to include the woman in discussions, while we find that women agents connect very well with their clients, both male and female, and are very successful as a result.”
Bev Heymans, director of ACTON Cottesloe, was named Overall Sales Champion, and Karen Bryant guided ACTON Mandurah to victory as the Business of the Year.
“Bev has won this award three years in a row, which is an incredible achievement. It highlights her incredible work ethic, and sales and marketing skills, and the great relationships she has with her clients,” said Mr Baxter, whose company booked a 25 per cent on-year increase in sales for the 2011-2012 financial year.
The company, which has around 20 offices, said in June that it plans to add up to 12 new shopfronts by next year.
Mr Baxter said ACTON Mandurah was another top performer, "not only taking home Business of the Year, but receiving a number of other awards as well”.
“Their director Karen Bryant leads by example. While the team might be at the top of their game, she isn’t one to rest on her laurels and remains committed to ongoing training for them all.
“Another lady who has taken the real estate world by storm is Vivien Yap of ACTON Dalkeith. She not only won our Rising Star award, presented to someone in their first year in real estate, but was nominated for Overall Sales Champion, Auction of the Year, and Elite Marketing of the Year. She also won the top salesperson award for ACTON Dalkeith, and received a Platinum Achievement Award. She has a very bright future and is definitely someone to watch.”
The other two women who were in the running for Overall Sales Champion were Gill Vivian of ACTON Cottesloe and Noeline Ross from ACTON Mandurah.
Ms Vivian received the award for Highest Number of Sales, the Currie & Reeves Individual Award (Numbers), the top salesperson award for ACTON Cottesloe, and received a Platinum Achievement award. Noeline also received a Platinum Achievement Award, the Currie & Reeves Individual Award (Revenue) and the top salesperson award for ACTON Mandurah.
A charity auction, supported by ACTON Auction Services, ACTON Corporate, Stellar Systems and PricewaterhouseCoopers, offered up a trip to Paris.
Auctioneers Craig Wildman, Darren Berley, and Ryan Thompson brought the hammer down on the final bid of $11,500, with Carlos Lehn and Paul Owen from ACTON Mount Lawley securing the prize. The trip will be awarded to their top salesperson for 2012/13.
