Richardson & Wrench has opened another office in Brisbane, as the group continues its push into a Queensland market that one of its senior executives says “is poised to bounce back”.
Kim Olsen, as principal and franchisee, will head the New Farm office with husband Gary as business manager. The new office will cover the inner city suburbs of New Farm, Newstead, Tenerife, Bowen Hills, Albion and Windsor.
R&W said Mr Olsen was formerly a principal within another large franchise group, who at one point owned three offices with over 50 team members.
R&W group franchise director Peter Flynn said the New Farm office, bordering the group’s recently opened Brisbane City residential office, was the beginning of a concerted effort to build the presence of Richardson & Wrench in Queensland.
“We have enormous faith in the Queensland market, Brisbane in particular,” said Mr Flynn. “With increased commercial activity and a general recovery in property prices, we believe we have the right people in place to take advantage of a market that is poised to bounce back.
“Gary and Kim both understand this market and have very clear ideas about what they aim to achieve here.”
Mrs Olsen said her decision to sign with R&W was largely based on “the warmth and generosity of spirit demonstrated by everyone I have met”.
“It truly is a company more interested in the people than the money. We are amazed at the support we have received.”
The company said the R&W New Farm will officially open as soon as suitable office premises have been secured, but will operate in the interim from the nearby Brisbane office.
Mrs Olsen has identified property management as one area of focus for the new business.
“A large proportion of the investment properties are held by interstate investors who we feel are not being as well served as they ought to be,” she said. “Our approach is to take the fear and risk out of the equation to provide investors with a greater level of security and assurance.”
The new office opening comes hot on the heels of R&W’s recent growth in NSW, with the 100-plus office group recently launching a new operation in the outer western Sydney suburb of Penrith, along with a new office in Narellan, in Sydney’s south west. It also had a long-term northern Sydney-based independent agency – Mackinnons Estate Agents – join its ranks recently.
