LJ Hooker is aiming to expand its Victoria and Tasmania network by 20 offices in the next year, its regional manager for operations has said.

The franchise network, which currently has 61 offices across the two states, will continue to grow both organically and via the efforts of network development manager Ken Baker, according to regional manager for operations, Paul O’Regan.

“Whilst I have not been directly in real estate franchising before, other than owing houses / investments / developments, I have extensive experience in franchising both as a franchisor and franchisee,” said Mr Baker, who formerly established Ballarat Homes – Ken Baker Realty which operated from 1997 to 2002.

“More importantly I have a strong track record of success by helping individuals and businesses grow beyond what is seen as impossible, but can definitely be achieved.”

Mr Baker also worked as regional general manager at Westpac and head of franchising at RAMS Home Loans.

Mr O’Regan said the specific areas for recruitment are split into metro and regional for Victoria, namely Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Horsham, Warrnambool, Traralgon, Warragul in regional areas, and the north western suburbs and inner metropolitan areas/Bayside in Melbourne.

In Tasmania, the group is targeting organic growth in Queenstown and other “emerging towns outside the main cities”.

Only recently, LJ Hooker surpassed the 700-office mark, with its residential network now comprising more than 7,000 sales professionals, property managers, finance brokers and support team members, selling more than 40,000 properties each year worth over $15 billion.
