A prominent Victoria-based real estate group is searching for 100 new recruits following strong sales and rent roll growth this year.

The call for new staff, from the 80-office strong Barry Plant Group, comes at a time when a number of other major groups have also ramped up their recruitment efforts.

Barry Plant’s announcement comes after the company conducted a recruitment survey of its principals which found that there were positions available for 60 salespeople, 16 property managers, eight administration staff and 16 mortgage brokers.

"There would be even more positions out there within the group as we didn't get a 100 per cent response rate to our survey," said Barry Plant CEO Mike McCarthy.

Mr McCarthy said the principals were targeting candidates with or without industry experience.

"Contrary to the trend in the market, the Barry Plant Group has sold more properties this year than last year and is looking for both experienced and new to industry people,” he said.

“Also with over 25,000 properties to manage, we are seeking people wanting careers in property management."

He added that with the launch of the company’s new mortgage broking division, that experienced mortgage brokers were also being sought.

"We are very excited to be able to offer our customers even better service by having in-house mortgage brokers to guide them through the often confusing and complicated process of getting a mortgage."

Only recently, Ray White Surfers Paradise Group launched an initiative to find four energetic, creative people to participate in the "perfect first year introduction" to a real estate career. Part of the pitch involved the new agents selling the unsellable – sand – via a 60 second YouTube video presentation.

“Real estate is one of those careers where the base start is low but the highs are unlimited. Our best agents out-earn the most prestigious of jobs. It’s all about energy, support and systems,” CEO of Ray White Surfers Paradise Andrew Bell said.

McGrath Estate Agents has also launched the McGrath Academy, which will seek to identify and educate 25 of the industry’s next generation of “elite” professionals.
