When it comes to attention-grabbing stunts you don’t get much bigger than conquering Everest, according to the head of a real estate related charity.

Leighton Walters, CEO and founding director of Heart for the Homeless, is setting out to raise $20,000 for his not-for-profit organisation. And the best way to do it? Send his founding sponsor off to scale the biggest mountain in the world.

On November 10 this year, Andrew Bond from specialist recruitment agency BRC, and founding sponsor of Heart for the Homeless, will be jumping on a plane to raise funds and awareness for the charity. With a summit of 8,848 meters above sea level, by conquering Everest Mr Bond is standing up for the cause he is passionate about.

“It is a great cause and we love to do things that are a bit out of the normal that will get people’s attention, so we thought climbing Everest would do the trick,” Mr Walters told Real Estate Business.

“Hopefully this initiative will help us raise some more funds.”

Established in 2009, Heart for the Homeless is a not-for-profit organisation which links tenants and homeowners who are moving with charities that can collect unwanted household goods.

A free initiative, Mr Walters sees the service as something that agents and property managers – who are often best placed to know when people are planning to move - can help promote to clients and prospective buyers and/or tenants.
