A Perth-based real estate sales representative has been banned for life from holding a certificate of registration following a drug conviction.
Samuel Marc Barnes Siddall, formerly of Beldon, was convicted in August 2011 of possessing methyl amphetamine with the intent to sell or supply and is currently serving a two year jail sentence, according to a statement from the WA Department of Commerce.
The ban comes after Consumer Protection said it took disciplinary action against Mr Siddall.
The State Administrative Tribunal ordered that Mr Siddall’s real estate sales representative certificate of registration be cancelled and that he be permanently disqualified from registration. The SAT also ordered Mr Siddall pay costs of $1,012.
Commissioner for Consumer Protection Anne Driscoll said these licensing requirements ensure that only fit and proper people qualify to hold licences.
“The licensing and registration schemes are designed to make sure that only people of good character are able to operate in the real estate industry in WA and this offers real estate buyers and vendors the greatest possible protection,” Ms Driscoll said.
