Tomorrow is the final day for NSW residents and strata industry professionals to comment on a review of strata and community title laws.
The NSW government is inviting submissions about the state’s current strata and community laws, and has issued a discussion paper on the matter.
“Since the paper was released in September this year, almost 1,000 submissions have been received from members of the public,” NSW fair trading commissioner, Rod Stowe, said.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in strata and community living to log on to the Fair Trading website and take an active role in shaping the future of strata and community law in New South Wales.”
The review and discussion paper followed an online forum on strata issues held earlier this year. This forum revealed that noise, parking and anti-social behaviour were the most common issues raised by the public.
“From smoking in common spaces to the operation of executive committees, the overwhelming response from the community tells us there’s significant need for reform,” NSW Fair Trading minister Anthony Roberts said in May this year.
For members of the public who have not had time to read the discussion paper, a short online survey is available on the NSW Fair Trading website giving people a last minute opportunity to have their say.
“NSW Fair Trading’s quick online survey gives the public an opportunity to comment on key matters discussed in the paper such as strata governance, dispute resolution, and the three p’s - parking, pets and passive smoking,” Mr Stowe said.
