New technological advancements continue to make life easier for perspective buyers searching for their ideal property.

A first for the Australian real estate industry, the new "Finger Search" tool, available now on the Domain iPad app, enables users to draw a search perimeter on the map with their finger, to view properties within that area.

This can be any shape around parts of a suburb, including a straight line to highlight a specific street.

Furthermore, the iPad app will then show properties that match the drawn area and enable the user to tap on the pin to display the property information.

Google Street View has also been added, allowing users to get a better idea of where the properties they are interested in are situated.

These additions follow recent upgrades including the Inspection Buddy tool, which enables users to view property information without closing the inspection planner map, as well as a function to rate and record a personal satisfaction score with a property.

The Inspection Buddy tool also allows users to record a checklist of key aspects of a property’s suitability, such as the size, whether existing furniture can fit, and storage space.

“The addition of Finger Search and Street View means it is easier for buyers to search more accurately for properties in the street or suburb they desire, as well as being able to record information about a property without needing to write anything down through the Inspection Buddy tool,” Matt Siddons, marketing director, real estate for Fairfax Marketplaces said.

“We expect Finger Search to be very popular. After all, the property search areas of our customers are never square, but are determined by the 'right' side of town, the 'right' side of the street, as well as proximity to the beach, or shops, or public transportation. Finger Search gives you the ultimate control of your search area.”
