REIA appoints new president

Tasmanian Peter Bushby has been elected as the new president of the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA), replacing Pamela Bennett, who has held the role for the past 18 months.

According to the REIA, Mr Bushby has worked in real estate since 1972 and with the exception of a few months, always in the northern Tasmanian regional market of Launceston and surrounds.

He was a partner in Bushby First National before opening his own boutique agency specialising in residential property sales in 1997.

Mr Bushby is a former national board member of the First National Real Estate group, was involved in the formation of the Professionals in Tasmania and is currently a Tasmanian Property Agents Tribunal panel member.

Mr Bushby joined the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania (REIT) State Executive in 2003 and was the state president for three years from 2007 to 2010. He is an Associate and Fellow Member of the Real Estate Institute of Australia.

Ms Bennett remains as the chairman of the REIQ.
