'Aussie legends' to feature at Sales Summit

Top performing Australian agents that are conquering an array of local markets will be the feature of an upcoming day-long ‘Sales Summit’ to be held in early February.

The Real Estate Sales Summit, to be held in Sydney on February 10, will feature a wide variety of industry professionals currently plying their trade in some of the toughest markets in the country. These include James Tostevin and Madeline Kennedy from Marshall White & Co in Melbourne; Cathy Richards from PLACE Estate Agents in Brisbane; Chris Gilmour from All Properties Group in Brisbane; and Bethwyn Richards from McGrath Estate Agents in Sydney.

“We wanted to create an ‘Aussie Legends’ type of event,” Michael Sheargold, founder and CEO of Real Estate Results Network (RERN), told Real Estate Business. “[This is] Australian talent operating across many of the markets that we have.”

Mr Tostevin, for example, who has written in excess of $4.6 million in commissions in one year, will give a 90 minute presentation at the Summit focused on his sales strategies, he said.

Yet Mr Sheargold, whose network of more than 30 independent agencies was ranked eighth in last year’s Real Estate Business Top 20 Real Estate Groups ranking, stressed that only motivated agents and principals were encouraged to attend the Real Estate Sales Summit.

“Do not attend Sales Summit if you’re not up for a big game,” he said, adding that 2013 will be about growing market share in regions that will see little change from last year’s sales volume numbers.

“If agents plan to do what they’ve always done, that’s a big trap,” he continued. “If they’re not prepared to step up, if they’re not following through, if they’re not organised, if they’re not focused on growing their skillset, if their major prospecting strategy is hoping someone will ring … [they’ll struggle].”

A number of seasoned industry trainers will also deliver presentations, including Mr Sheargold, Glenn Twiddle, Tom Panos and Josh Phegan.

A focus for Mr Sheargold is showing attendees how small changes to how they operate – when magnified – can deliver significant results.

He added that while motivated agents would benefit greatly from attending the event, having their principal with them can help ensure new ideas are implemented.

“The power of an idea is in its implementation,” he said.
