Victorian group continues Qld push

Fletchers Gold Coast South has welcomed three top performing professionals to their organisation.

Managing director of Fletchers Qld, Christopher Stear, told Real Estate Business the addition of Phillip Oliver, Cara Watts and Karl Peters was a real coup for Fletchers.

Mr Oliver joined Fletchers Gold Coast South, the Victoria-based group's sole Qld office, as a sales representative from a rival network, Ms Watts as a business development manager, while Mr Peters, who joined Fletchers in August with no previous real estate experience, recently closed three sales in one day totalling $1,555,000.

“We are seeing people with significant reputations gravitating towards us because word is starting to spread that the culture is good, the system is good and the support is good,” he said.

He said it was important that recruitment was slow and detailed.

“It requires a relatively unique individual who is prepared to work hard, is prepared to work under close instruction and mentoring and has a good work ethic, and often that’s hard to find.”

Mr Stear said Fletchers, which also has 10 offices in Victoria, focused on head hunting rather than advertising, as it was more effective in finding experienced people.

He added it was important to establish a relationship with candidates to examine whether they suited the company’s culture, produced quality work, and whether they would benefit by being part of the organisation.

Additionally, he said an attractive candidate for Fletchers was someone willing to accept and learn the company’s practices.

“Often with experienced people, it’s very difficult for someone to unlearn or often to admit to the fact they could do better. I think every principal, every director, every successful agency looks at the unlearned quota that you have got to undertake with somebody.”

Mr Stear said he looked forward to seeing all his employees achieve their personal goals as a result of being part of Fletchers, and said more growth was expected for the group in Qld.
