Cancer Council SA and real estate group Raine&Horne have formed a partnership, where a portion of every home sold in 2014 will go towards beating cancer.

Raine&Horne South Australia CEO Michael McDonald said beating cancer is a cause close to the organisation.

“As property specialists, our agents often face the harsh reality of a property sale triggered by an illness and resultant financial hardship, and this is at the heart of our financial pledge to support the fight to beat cancer in all its forms,” he said.

Mr McDonald said the commitment will deliver “much more than cash” to the charity.

“As a key sponsor of Cancer Council SA and its Community Action Van, we will mobilise the substantial resources of our 26 offices in South Australia to support major events such as Daffodil Day, Girls Night In, Pink Ribbon Day, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and Relay For Life,” he explained.

“We employ more than 150 South Australians, who have unanimously committed their support for Cancer Council SA and its many initiatives.”

Cancer Council SA chief executive Professor Brenda Wilson said the partnership is expected to generate a significant contribution to Cancer Council SA, which provides vital cancer prevention, research and support to benefit all South Australians. “Every day, Cancer Council SA is working to minimise the impact of cancer on all South Australians,” she said.

“We believe cancer can be beaten, but we can’t do it alone. For this reason, we would like to offer our thanks to the team at Raine&Horne, who are committed to making a difference.”

Raine&Horne SA has committed to the partnership with Cancer Council SA to coincide with the Santos Tour Down Under, where team members will be providing sunscreen at the Raine&Horne Cancer Council Community Action Van.
