Friday Funnies: Leaving it to the PA

Every Friday, we will feature a story from an agent on the ground. This week’s story comes from Kylie Best from Property Only.

“After working for my previous agency for almost a year, I was ready for a holiday. Before setting off, I ensured I had completed as many inspections as possible and that my in-tray was empty. I left my assistant with a bible full of all of the information she would ever need in my absence.

To keep her occupied, I asked her to complete a handful of 'easy routine inspections' for me. You know the kind - the house is near new and the perfect tenant has been in place for years, there's never any maintenance and the owner is lovely.

My assistant diligently inspected the properties like I asked and upon my return I checked her hand-written reports.

When I reached one in particular, I burst out laughing.

Six months prior, one of my favourite clients had given me his stunning property to manage, following his marriage separation. He moved into the liveable shed, which was on the same property but far enough away that it looked like it was a neighbouring house.

The letterbox was closer to the liveable shed than the house and yes, you guessed it, my assistant wandered in and inspected the owner's unlocked property.

I was tickled pink to report to my good-natured client that he'd had an inpromptu inspection and that my assistant found his level of cleanliness to be quite good. We laughed about it for months afterwards.”
