VIC group to back major community projects - February 2014

By Staff Reporter
19 February 2014 | 16 minute read

One of Melbourne’s most recognisable brands is set to support several local and overseas community initiatives with the launch of the Jellis Craig Group Foundation.

The foundation has already set their initiatives for 2014, including rasing funds to build an orphanage in Thailand for 15 girls.

The foundation will be working with the charity Hands Across the Water and staff will be invited to assist at the construction site.

According  to a spokesperson the goal of the foundation is a powerful, yet simple one.

“To make a substantive difference to the lives of those who are faced with insurmountable difficulties, both locally and internationally,” they said.

“Jellis Craig have always been a community-focused company, spending the past 23 years as an active, grass-roots partner alongside vibrant local schools, sporting clubs and charities.

“The launch of the Jellis Craig Group Foundation provides a cohesive structure for Jellis Craig Group staff. They are encouraged to dedicate time, effort and professional expertise to projects, engendering positive change throughout their community.”

Another project has already begun with Jellis Craig directors Steven Abbott and Paul Williamson undertaking an 800km, eight day bike ride through Thailand, raising nearly $30,000 in the process.

The Jellis Craig Group is also set to continue their close partnership with Breast Cancer Network Australia in 2014. The Foundation will be participating in a range of fundraising activities designed to raise awareness of breast cancer in the community.
