Sydney-based boutique Bresic Whitney has hired a new marketing expert as it looks to bolster its creative team and stay ahead of the industry curve.

Brendan Fearn joins Bresic Whitney from creative advertising agency The White Agency, where he worked as head of marketing for two years.

In the newly established role, Mr Fearn is part of the senior management team and will work across BresicWhitney’s Darlinghurst, Glebe, Balmain and Hunter's Hill offices.

Shannan Whitney, CEO at Bresic Whitney, told Real Estate Business the appointment is part of the group’s business strategy to put a significant emphasis on communication and creative.

“It’s a newly designed roll,” said Mr Whitney. “Marketing is a very generic term; a better description of the role is ‘head of communications and creative’.

“This is the future of the business. Where we see Bresic Whitney positioned is very important. What interests us is getting the best talent in a particular field, finding a person to do that well in a commercial sense, not in a real estate sense. He will be an integral part of our strategy,” he added.

Mr Whitney believes the hire will keep Bresic Whitney, which employees a full-time journalist to write content and three full-time photographers, ahead of the competition.

“I think we’re ahead of the curve in many respects and this is just another example of that,” he said.

“Building the quality of our creative department has been a huge thing for us. I don’t think a lot of people in our industry have any idea about this sort of thing, to be honest.”
