Smartphone tech driving agent leads

A smartphone application that alerts users to the details on listed properties as they walk past them is set for release next month.

The free application, available as part of the Squiiz web portal due for release in October, is an industry first and is designed to reduce the difficulty in searching for a property and make the most of available technology.

The app requires a user to pre-select any property features they are looking for, which then automatically alerts them should they walk past a property that matches their description or preference.

Harcourts International managing director Mike Green said key to the development was making property search easier for users.

“The free app is an industry first and will reduce the stress and hassle associated with looking for a property,” Mr Green said.

“It will no doubt make the experience easier, more enjoyable and more rewarding for our clients.”

The application works by sending property details from their smartphone through a voice prompt if the user travels within 50 metres of a property listing that meets their needs.

Members of the Squiiz portal can upload all listings for free, and to upload logos and agent photos a monthly cost is required.

The Squizz website is backed by property groups such as Belle Property, Century 21, Harcourts Group, Independent Real Estate Network of Excellence, LJ Hooker, Place, PRDnationwide, Raine & Horne, Ray White and Re/Max.

The Certified Practising Real Estate Agents (CPREA) recently shelved its development of a property portal, choosing instead to back Squiiz.

The Squiiz website and application goes live on October 15.
