Midweek daytime auctions are a winner, according to a Queensland real estate firm who has recently sold two properties well above their reserve prices.
One property in Queensland sold at auction some $275,000 above the reserve and another $410,000 above reserve.
Harcourts sales consultant Norm Devine said holding auctions midweek is easier than on weekends due to less competition with other auctions and can provide a vendor with genuine bidders.
“With people booking weekends away to enjoy the summer weather it is easier to get people together midweek,” Mr Devine said.
“Potential clients often find themselves too busy to attend weekend auctions, particularly with summer coming.”
Chief Harcourts Queensland auctioneer Mitch Peereboom said today’s auction results are not governed by a time and place but rather by buyers wanting to purchase a property rather than a particular time.
Mr Peereboom said regardless of the time or day an auction is held, the marketing and auction processes are the same.
“We find that buyers appreciated the opportunity to purchase a property without having to worry about missing out on viewing other comparable properties during the busier weekend time slots,” he said.
