Agencies with a social conscience have been urged to back a Philippines-based transcribing firm that employs struggling single mothers.
Fair Go Outsourcing was founded by Australian Rod Smith as a way to service Australian real estate agencies while also fighting poverty.
“Fair Go's transcription team are all single Filipino mothers with dependents that have no secondary income,” Mr Smith told Real Estate Business.
“Based in the province of Caraga, there are very limited employment opportunities for well-educated single mothers that include ‘fair’ wages and family-friendly working hours.”
The firm specialises in transcribing property condition reports, but also handles real estate documents, residential valuation reports, property summaries and audio recordings.
Mr Smith said Fair Go pays more than 65 per cent of its revenue directly to its transcribers, with the rest used fund the business.
Agencies should have no fear about sending their work to Fair Go as the transcribers are well-educated and speak good English, Mr Smith said.
“Fair Go based its operations in a province that has several good quality colleges and universities but the local economy offers few well-paid jobs, especially for single mothers,” he said.
“So, as we offer flexible hours and most of the money goes directly to the transcriber, and wage rates are two to three times higher than local rates, we are able to select applicants with college degrees and several years of professional work experience.”
