Jellis Craig has started broadcasting property videos in China after finding a way around the government’s ban on YouTube and Vimeo.

The 14-office Melbourne group has turned to a Chinese video hosting service to avoid the problem that afflicts many Australian-made videos.

Chief executive Nick Dowling said this made it easier for Jellis Craig to match local vendors with foreign buyers.

“As specialists in marketing property internationally, we know some countries, such as mainland China, are unable to use Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo or YouTube,” he said.

“Currently, YouTube is the industry standard for hosting property videos in Australia. This means property marketing strategies used by many Australian agencies and leading real estate websites are unable to extend their reach into mainland China.”

Jellis Craig has a dedicated liaison team to manage its Chinese business.
