One regional business has been recognised for its marketing skill after creating a video that has received more than 48,000 hits.

PRDnationwide Broome has been nominated in the community service category for the Excellence in Franchising Awards, based on its infectious promotional video.

The Happy Broome video features an array of locals singing and dancing to the famous Pharrell Williams song, Happy.

The Western Australian agency realised it needed to do something different when business slowed, so the marketing team created a campaign that focused not on property but the town’s people and attractions.

Marketing coordinator Rebecca Love said the idea of showcasing Broome’s scenery and people quickly gathered momentum.

“We met with a group of other marketing managers in town and brainstormed, did some research and arranged meetings with local businesses and key groups,” Ms Love said.

“We presented the idea to the shire in order to gain their support as a financial contributor for the project.”

Another PRDnationwide office, in Toowoomba, has also been nominated in the community service category by the Franchise Council of Australia.

The business was recognised for organising a charity gala ball that raised more than $15,000 for the Heart Foundation.

Principal Alexandra Lincoln said staff decided to back the charity after some family members were affected by heart attacks.

“Not only did we surpass our fundraising goal with the sold-out event, but along the way we inspired the community to get involved,” Ms Lincoln said.

The event included pre-dinner drinks, a three-course meal, auctions, raffles and live entertainment.
