Queensland’s state body has appointed a One Agency principal as one of its zone chairs.

Damian Raxach, who opened a One Agency office in Hervey Bay in 2014, has been an agent for more than 20 years and lived in the Fraser Coast area for almost a decade.

Real Estate Institute of Queensland chief executive Antonia Mercorella said zone chairs fulfil the important role of acting as liaisons between the REIQ and its members.

“They are also wonderful advocates for their local areas and are regularly called upon to fulfil media spokesperson roles. They are the local experts with intimate knowledge and understanding of the marketplace,” she said.

Mr Raxach launched his career in his native London before moving to Australia in 2003. He then worked as an agent for Harcourts, first on Bribie Island and then at Hervey Bay.

“The community is really great and to see this area growing and thriving is really satisfying,” he said.

“The market is recovering from a tough period but there are very good signs that we’re headed for calmer waters soon.”
