Technology and real estate become bedfellows when Google headlines the REIQ RealTech 2018 conference, October 10 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The REIQ has packed the program to the brim with tech experts from a range of fields who will all give practical, relevant advice on incorporating technology into your business to stay ahead of your competitors.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella said the conference was designed to introduce real estate professionals to leading-edge technology coming to the real estate space.

“This conference sold out last year. Our members have spoken clearly – they want to know what technology is important for their business and how they can build it into their daily processes for greater professional success.

“That’s what we want to help them achieve through this conference,” Ms Mercorella said.

The conference brings some of the biggest tech giants to the REIQ stage and will also include a panel session where real estate agents who have been using some great technology that has helped their business will share their experiences with attendees. No spin, just real experiences from real people who have found something that works.

Shark Tank-style event

The REIQ is looking for real estate technology start-ups to work with and so we will be bringing a Shark-Tank-style event to RealTech, showcasing some innovative entrepreneurs and seeking feedback from real estate professionals on how useful they find the product or service.

Google

“Everybody wants to understand Google better, we need to de-mystify the search engine giant so that we can use the tools better. So we’ve got Google speaking at RealTech,” she said.

Google head of strategic accounts Everett H. Shiina and cloud account manager Fiona Malone will talk about Google innovation and what it means for the real estate industry.

Nigel Dalton, Chief Inventor, Realestate.com.au

Digital disruption of real estate agents is a commonly voiced concern. Nigel will share a remarkable case study of an industry that transformed itself into a digital, online business that is booming – the illicit drug trade on the dark web.  Can we learn lessons from this industry? Also, learn which technology is making inroads with real estate customers.

Sarah Moran, Girl Geek Academy

Sarah Moran is proudly a geek and co-founded the Girl Geek Academy, designed to encourage more girls and women into the tech professions.

Last week Sarah won The Australian Women’s Weekly Entrepreneur & Business Award at their sixth annual Women of the Future awards. Last month she was named in The Courier-Mail’s Queensland Business Monthly Top 20 Under 40 list, profiling her as one of the most inspiring and innovative young entrepreneurs and business leaders in the state.

Danielle Lewis, Scrunch.com

The area of influencer marketing is one of those dark arts we recognise when we see a Kardashian Instagram post, but beyond that, it can be hard to spot and even more challenging to understand how it relates to our business.

Danielle Lewis, CEO and founder of Scrunch.com, is expert at matching brands with social media influencers, those leading lights with tens of thousands – even millions – of followers who seem to rush out and buy every product that our influencer breathes on.

Michael Rosemann, QUT

It doesn’t just feel as though the world is moving faster. It is. The digital economy means decisions are made faster and our thinking has changed. What does this mean for human beings? How can we create a message to cut through the clutter and reach our target audience?

Dr Michael Rosemann is an expert in the human mind and digital intelligence. He will introduce the notion of a digital mind as a way to establish contemporary thinking patterns beyond often-hyped and fast-changing technological developments.

Exhibitors: More than 30 tech exhibitors will showcase the latest products and services that can help real estate salespeople, agents, property managers and principals.
