Real estate activities have been put on the backburner as the Northern Beaches battles a COVID-19 cluster.
Buying, selling and rental activities such as open home inspections and in-person meetings between agents and clients are among those services that have been disrupted by the announcement of a public health order affecting Sydney’s Northern Beaches community.
The NSW Minister for Health and Medical Research, Brad Hazzard, has signed the public order which applies to the Northern Beaches Local Government Area (LGA) and enforces previous stay-at-home advice.
“The order requires local residents or people in short-term accommodation (such as hotels or rental accommodation) to stay at home,” a statement from Northern Beaches Council reiterated.
The public health order, which will remain in effect until 11.59pm Wednesday, 23 December 2020, also prevents people residing outside of the Northern Beaches LGA to enter the area without a lawful reason.
The public health order decrees that travel for work purposes is only permissible “if working from home is not possible”.
Open inspections for the purpose of the sale or lease of premises are not allowed, while in-person auctions are also off the table.
A person may still show a single person the premises for the purpose of sale or lease through an appointment or booking system.
The latest update puts the number of COVID-19 cases associated with the Northern Beaches Avalon cluster at 83.
