With the return to stage 4 lockdown conditions in Victoria, a network CEO has said agents are well prepared to weather the newest challenge.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the new “circuit-breaker” lockdown, in force from Friday, 12 February at 11.59pm, until Wednesday, 17 February at 11.59pm.

According to Ray White Victoria, no real estate group has been “better placed to weather the storm than the Ray White Victoria network”.

Victoria and Tasmania CEO Stephen Dullens considers the group to be well versed and prepared for the latest change to circumstances.

Ray White Victoria has reported more than 110 auctions being booked in for the next five days, with the vast majority of these moved online. A small number are expected to be extended beyond the end of the five-day disruption.

He said: “We know what to do and have the systems and processes in place to continue to provide the best possible service to our customers.”

Having successfully moved more than 1,000 auctions online through 2020, Mr Dullens flagged the group’s robust online auction platform and ability to complete any and all transactions electronically.

“Over the past year, we have been able to fine-tune our online auction process and smoothly transitioned to a completely digital offering in line with restrictions to keep our members and clients safe,” he commented.

“No one is more prepared for a lockdown like the people of Victoria,” Mr Dullens added, expressing his confidence that the recent strong market conditions seen across the state will continue.

“Essentially, we have been here before and are ready to go again.

We will continue to support our Victorian customers to ensure they receive the best level of care and support during this time.”

The new lockdown was instigated in response to the overnight identification of five new cases of COVID-19, stemming from a Melbourne hotel quarantine outbreak.

Acknowledging that a return to lockdown “hurts” after two extended lockdown periods in 2020, Mr Andrews called the new measures “a short, sharp blast — the same as we’ve seen in Queensland and WA — that will give us what we need to get ahead of this faster-moving virus”.
