Cotality’s latest Auction Market Preview reveals that auction volumes across the country are expected to measurably rise from the previous week.
For the week ending 1 June 2025, Cotality data found that 2,816 homes are scheduled for auction across the capital cities, which will mark the third-busiest auction week of the year if all auctions go ahead.
The week’s auction numbers mark an increase from the 2,460 homes taken to auction during the week ending 25 May 2025, and are also higher than the 2,380 auctions held this time last year.
Melbourne is set to notch up its fourth-busiest auction week of the year so far with the 1,371 properties up for auction, registering 1,223 homes more than last week, and 1,109 auctions held one year prior.
Sydney is on track to host its third-busiest auction week of the year-to-date, with the 1,095 homes scheduled for auction marking an increase on the 799 auctions held last year, and 899 homes taken to auction this time last year.
Although Brisbane’s 148 homes up for auction are expected to mark the highest activity across the smaller capital cities, the city’s auction volume has fallen compared to the week ending 25 May 2025, when 205 homes went under the hammer.
Adelaide’s auction volume has slightly increased week-on-week, with the 124 homes set for auction edging up slightly from the previous week’s 119 recorded auctions.
Canberra’s auction volume declined this week, with the 68 properties scheduled for auction compared to 96 last week.
Perth’s auction volume also dipped week-on-week, with nine homes scheduled for auction this week, compared to the 18 homes taken to auction in the week ending 25 May 2025.
Activity in Tasmania is expected to slightly notch up, with one auction on the radar after no homes were taken to auction in the week ending 25 May 2025.
Cotality forecasts that auction volumes will fall to around 1,300 in the week ending 8 June 2025, due to all jurisdictions but Queensland and Western Australia celebrating the King’s Birthday next weekend.
