Auction activity across the combined capitals is set to bounce back from last week’s reduced volumes, with almost every capital city reporting a lift in scheduled auctions during the week ending 15 June 2025.
Cotality’s latest Auction Market Preview shows that auction volumes across the country are expected to significantly rise from the previous week, with 2,161 capital city homes scheduled for auction over the week ending 15 June 2025.
The week’s auction numbers mark a significant 57.4 per cent increase from the 1,373 homes taken to auction during the week ending 8 June 2025, which Cotality attributed to the King’s Birthday long weekend that took place in all jurisdictions except Queensland and Western Australia.
Despite the uplift in activity, this week’s auction numbers are still expected to fall short of the 2,276 homes that went to auction this time last year.
Melbourne is set to be the busiest auction market this week, with the 960 properties up for auction registering higher than the 475 homes that went to auction last week, but falling short of the 1,083 auctions held one year prior.
Sydney’s auction is also expected to increase, with the 849 homes scheduled for auction marking an increase on the 625 auctions held last week, and 812 homes taken to auction this time last year.
Adelaide’s 147 homes up for auction are expected to mark the highest activity across the smaller capital cities, a considerable increase compared to the 82 homes taken to auction during the week ending 8 June 2025.
Brisbane’s auction volume is instead set to decline week-on-week, with the 123 homes set for auction falling slightly from the previous week’s 133 recorded auctions.
Canberra’s 71 scheduled auctions are expected to mark an increase from the 50 properties that were taken to auction last week.
Perth currently has 11 homes scheduled for auction, which is up from the previous week when just eight homes were taken to auction.
No auctions are expected to take place in Tasmania during the week ending 15 June 2025, marking the location’s second week of inactivity in a row.
Looking ahead, Cotality forecasts a moderate dip in auction volumes next week, with 1,814 homes currently scheduled to go under the hammer in the week ending 22 June 2025.
