LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie has consolidated its footprint in the Lower Hunter, acquiring LJ Hooker Belmont including its rent roll.
The Belmont office, which has been operating in the area for over 50 years, will be led by LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie director and general manager Mark Campbell.
It will join other offices based in Wangi Wangi, Toronto and Warners Bay, operating under the unified LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie name. It is hoped that the combined entity will lead to increased market share, brand awareness and operational efficiency.
Campbell, who has almost 15 years’ experience with LJ Hooker, takes over the role from former principal Steven Georgalas, who has remained with the office in a sales capacity.
According to Campbell, the addition of the Belmont office to the network would increase market share and brand awareness while strengthening operations in the area.
Campbell said that the addition of Belmont would expand LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie’s presence in the region and allow the offices to better service the growing and diverse Lower Hunter market.
“The region is getting busier; we have a steady stream of people coming from Sydney, as well as Canberra and Melbourne, looking for warmer weather. It is a real mix of young families, downsizers and retirees,” Campbell said.
LJ Hooker’s head of network Australia, Chris Keating, said the offices would share in the benefits of the brand’s high visibility in the area.
“Mark is a terrific mentor, coach and business leader who recognises the value of multiple offices working together in a high-growth and exciting region,” Keating said.
“It is a perfect match for LJ Hooker Lake Macquarie to be able to acquire a long-running and successful franchise that is so well-known in the community.”
Additionally, Campbell said it was important for him to foster an environment of positive mental health in the offices and the role that it plays in helping staff achieve their goals.
“As agents, we are dealing with the largest asset a client will own and transact and, as a result, they can put a lot of pressure on whoever is looking after it.”
“We need to have the skills to be present and operate at our best, and this allows better outcomes not only for staff but also for our clients,” Campbell concluded.
