Melbourne-based luxury real estate network Abercrombys has expanded interstate, launching its first Tasmanian office in Hobart.

The new office will be based in Battery Point and focus on high-end homes across Battery Point, Sandy Bay, and surrounding prestige enclaves, with a particular emphasis on heritage properties, waterfront residences and architecturally significant homes.

The Hobart operation will be led by local agent Georgie Rayner, formerly a property partner at The Agency.

Born and raised in Hobart, Rayner built her real estate career in the city and brings additional experience from leading high-profile events businesses spanning luxury weddings and racing events.

Rayner said Hobart’s property market was characterised by steady, considered demand rather than cyclical volatility.

“Hobart is experiencing a quiet confidence in its property market. It’s not driven by seasons or school terms like larger cities – much of the activity is local or returning Tasmanians, alongside considered interstate buyers seeking lifestyle, acreage and long-term value,” Rayner said.

“Abercrombys’ focus on luxury, discretion and generational relationships resonates strongly here. I’m excited to introduce a new standard of service to the Hobart market.”

Abercrombys chief executive officer Sally O’Connell said the expansion reflected growing demand from luxury clients seeking lifestyle and regional opportunities beyond Melbourne.

“Abercrombys has always been about building long-term, trusted relationships rather than chasing transactions,” O’Connell said.

“Many of our Melbourne clients are looking to expand their property portfolios into lifestyle and regional markets, and Hobart continues to emerge as a compelling destination – both as a place to live and as a safe haven for investment.”

“Our expansion into Tasmania allows us to support clients across generations and geographies, while remaining true to our boutique, luxury positioning.”

The new office has commenced operations immediately.

Founded 21 years ago, Abercrombys will continue to pursue growth in Melbourne’s prestige suburbs, particularly Stonnington and Boroondara.

O’Connell said Rayner was the clear choice to establish the network’s first interstate foothold.

“Georgie embodies everything Abercrombys stands for – integrity, discretion, relationship-driven service and a genuine passion for property.”
