An Australian real estate portal has announced the launch of a new search tool streamlining the way home buyers and renters collaboratively search for and share properties.

Collections is the latest offering from free-to-list portal Homely, allowing users to save their favourite homes by clicking the heart icon in the top right-hand corner of any property card and creating a Collection with a theme of their own choosing. Themes can be created by suburb, price point, investment prospects, dream homes and renovation ideas.

Homely.com.au said Collections represents an industry first for Australian real estate search portals. The group said that no other portal places social collaboration at the heart of user search, and that users can easily invite their friends and family to view, add and change properties in their Collections.

“We’re very excited about this new tool as it will make showing others and searching for homes together so much easier and faster,” Homely co-CEO and head of product Adam Spencer said.

“The great thing about Collections is that it provides instant notifications and activity updates for each member invited to a Collection, keeping everyone posted of any new developments,” Mr Spencer said.

“In addition to improving the efficiency and simplicity of searching for a new home with others, Collections is also a lot of fun,” he said.

“It fuels Australia’s love affair with beautiful real estate by making it easy to save and share the most inspiring homes on the market.”

Homely was recently selected as one of only five nominees in the Real Estate category of the 20th annual Webby Awards.
