The Property Council of Australia’s new initiative to support the growth of women as real estate leaders has received an overwhelming response from the industry.

The 100 Women in Property initiative aims to encourage established leaders to sponsor talented women within their organisation or business sphere.

Participants in the program gain access to leaders’ networks to enhance their own visibility within the industry and develop future career opportunities.

Kathy MacDermott, chief operating officer at The Property Council, said the program is now oversubscribed, reflecting the industry’s enthusiasm for measures that boost diversity.

“We set out to attract 100 participants in our first year and we’ve already exceeded this target,” she said.

“We are extremely excited to have well over 100 women in the first year of this program, which runs until December.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by nominations from people who want to participate and our industry leaders who are keen to support great female talent,” Ms MacDermott said.
