A network is taking its push for innovation a step further by creating a new role specifically designed to play to its workforce’s individual strengths.

Harcourts NSW shared that Corie Forsack has been named as its new business operations and events manager — a promotion that comes just eight months after she stepped into the role of state operations manager for NSW/ACT.

The firm noted that Ms Forsack’s strong showing in her previous role had opened up the discussion about crafting a new role that will allow her to continue excelling in her job while providing an opportunity to advance her career.

Eventually, this discussion led to a formal process of job crafting — which the firm explained involved redesigning an employee’s work activities and essentially altering the tasks, relationships, and perceptions of occupations to make them feel more like “their jobs” than the jobs of the corporation.

“It was with this innovative approach in mind that we created this pivotal new position,” Harcourts NSW/ACT chief executive Katrina Tarrant stated.

The firm cited the increasing number of research indicating that “job crafting” can be a “potent tool” to boost morale among staff members by allowing them to have more agency over their careers for the innovative push.

It further underlined that by being in a role specifically created for them, employees have a greater sense of control at work and much-needed clarity on where their careers are headed when they feel like they can customise their positions.

“After a huge year of innovation here at Harcourts, I am immensely buoyed to have someone with Corie’s experience at the helm to support our offices across a wide range of technology platforms,” Ms Tarrant stated.

Aside from the new role bolstering the network’s support team offering in the NSW, Mr Tarrant underlined that it also strongly positions them for their “ambitious” growth plans in the coming year.

“Additionally, this appointment has also paved the path for a new opening within our corporate team as we actively recruit for a specialised admin support role to underpin the entire team’s day-to-day activities,” she added.

Speaking on hitting her new career milestone, Ms Forsack said she is looking forward to “making the job her own”.

“This unique opportunity allows me to build upon my relationships with the Harcourts NSW/ACT family and to continue to offer the superior support we are known for,” she said.

Ms Tarrant touted Ms Forsack’s latest and strategic career advancement as a testament to the benefits of taking an innovative approach to employment.

“Corie is such a great example of how present and potential employees can learn more about their goals, skills, and, most importantly, potential by job crafting,” she stated.
