A strong market through October has propelled Barry Plant’s charitable efforts to a new level.

The network, which has been running a Wishtober event to support Make-A-Wish Australia for nine years, has officially raised over $1 million during the course of that time, thanks to a strong October market.

The initiative sees a portion of the commission for every sale during the month donated to the Australian charity, which helps fulfil the wishes of children with a critical illness.

Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell announced the significant milestone achieved this year with great pride, commenting that she has been continually impressed with franchisees’ generous support.

"It’s impressive that year after year, our director group has generously given back to the community in so many ways, but the commitment to donate part of every commission for a whole month of every year is both significant and indicative of the culture of this special business,” Ms Pennell said.

“As a company, Barry Plant places a great importance on contributing to the community, forging connections with our clients, and actively engaging with our local neighbourhoods not just because it’s good business, but because we genuinely want to,” she added.

Getting hands-on with the initiative, the network also regularly becomes involved on a local level to make the organisation’s plans come to life.

One recent instance saw Barry Plant kit out the interior of nine-year-old Oli’s backyard clubhouse.

Oli, who has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, asked for a fun space to meet with friends where they could play board games, hold PlayStation battles, hang out and joke around. Barry Plant sponsored the interior of the clubhouse, which, per Oli’s dream, included a table, chairs, game storage and beanbags. A welcome mat, planter box and sign declaring “this is Oli’s clubhouse” completed the picture.

Ms Pennell commented that it’s helping out kids like Oli that keeps the firm motivated year after year.

“This milestone for the group is more than just a number; it’s a beacon of hope for kids like Oli.”
