As more and more Aussies use AI during their property journey, REA has developed its first ChatGPT app in a bid to help buyers find their next homes through personalised experiences.

The REA Group has launched its first real estate app for ChatGPT, expanding its commitment to developing features powered by artificial intelligence (AI), giving more choice and flexibility and simplifying the property journey.

Jonathan Swift, REA Group chief product and audience officer, said the launch of the app in ChatGPT would give property seekers a more engaging and personalised experience.

“Some property buyers are beginning to use AI tools in their property journey, and we’re seeing a higher uptake with younger property seekers,” Swift said.

“Ensuring listings on realestate.com.au are easily available to this cohort of Australians means we can support them early in their property search and continue to engage them on the platform with personalised experiences and in-depth information throughout their entire journey.”

Swift said that ChatGPT will be another way to help connect buyers with agents and vendors, as property seekers will be able to access live and up-to-date listings whenever they are searching.

Prospective buyers will use the tool to search for properties across Australia using natural language, with results from realestate.com.au displayed on an interactive map that includes photos, pricing, descriptions, and agent details.

Logged-in users will also apply filters if needed, sort listings, ask complex questions, and refine their search conversationally while being guided to contact agents, save properties, or view more information.

Swift said the company’s ChatGPT app will be among the first of a suite of AI features to come on the platform.

“Our unparalleled audience and proprietary data places us in a strong position to harness AI and deliver unique and valuable insights and experiences for our customers and consumers,” Swift concluded.
