A pair of Western Downs cattle traders are extending their expertise into real estate with the launch of Ray White Rural Tara.

Husband and wife team Craig and Fiona Davison began in the industry by breeding cattle and then moved into trading. Now, they feel that opening an operation dedicated to the area’s rich land and local property is the next natural step.

“We are producers ourselves and converted from breeding cattle to trading around nine years ago. While finding our feet we found there was a lack of hands-on experience and knowledge in this field and realised that there was a market for a livestock agent that specialises in trading,” Mr Davison explained.

They join Ray White’s rural and livestock arm and intend to use their local connections to build word of mouth.

“Craig has a massive network from being in the industry for a long time, and has real life experience with trading and can tell you through his own personal experience what does not work and what can work,” Ms Davison said.

“We will bring our personal experiences to this because we have lived and breathed livestock and real estate ourselves and we are here to stay. We are locals and part of the community. It’s a great community, we love it here.”

The duo commented that they were attracted to Ray White because they felt the megabrand would offer the support they needed to start out in this venture.

They said that with the network’s backing, they’re now able to “tailor our services to local needs, whatever that may be”.

And for the Davisons, that’s the ultimate aim.

“The reason I do what I do is to help people and it gives me great satisfaction to know I have been able to help someone in their property journey or to take their livestock operation to the next level,” Mr Davison said.

Ray White Rural and Livestock managing director Stephen Nell said that based on their expertise and background, he was confident in the pair’s ability to grow a thriving business.

“With their superior knowledge of both the local area and livestock and real estate I have no doubt they will be an asset to the group. I look forward to celebrating their success.

“We are delighted that Craig and Fiona have joined us and opened in their hometown of Tara,” he said.
