The network has significantly bolstered its agency and management capabilities by recruiting two industry veterans.

McGees Adelaide has appointed Theo Kaldis and Boyd Octoman into the roles of senior commercial property manager and senior executive - sales and leasing respectively.

McGees Adelaide director James Juers said the network is “thrilled to have people of the calibre of Boyd and Theo join McGees”.

“As McGees enters its 40th anniversary, it’s appropriate we continue to evolve and enhance our capabilities by recruiting people who are among Adelaide’s most respected real estate operators,” Juers stated.

Kaldis was described as having over 40 years experience in the commercial property industry across sales, leasing and predominantly the management of retail, office and industrial real estate.

The network highlighted Kaldis’ 10-year tenure as the associate director at global agency Savills in which he managed a large portfolio of large regional and neighbourhood shopping centres throughout South Australia.

Within his new role, it was stated that Kaldis will manage a “vast cross-section of commercial properties ranging from retail shopping centres to industrial properties”.

Speaking of his new position, Kaldis stated: “It’s largely an extension of my past experience and what I enjoy most problem solving, ‘hands on’ management and team-focused growth.”

“I prefer working for a local commercial real estate company as it has a greater ‘family’ feel about it and I can appreciate the speed at and care with which business decisions can be made.”

Speaking on Kaldis’ appointment, McGees Adelaide director of property management, Andrew Carapetis, said: “Theo brings fantastic experience to the agency, having worked with local operators and global firms, which has seen him develop a remarkably rounded management skill set.”

Octoman was stated as having 36 years of experience in property, having joined Mason Gray Strange Real Estate (SA) in 1991, where he specialised in motels for several years.

After obtaining qualifications as a registered land agent and auctioneer in 1994, Octoman purchased Mason Gray Strange’s real estate and valuation component in 2001 before rebranding the agency as Raine & Horne Commercial SA. He then sold out of the agency in 2019.

In his new position, Octoman will reportedly be responsible for securing the best possible results for McGee’s clients within the sale and leasing of commercial properties across Adelaide.

“I’ve admired McGees from afar throughout my property career and I’m incredibly excited to now be a part of it and its ongoing evolution as the agency enters its 40th year,” he remarked.

Commenting on Octoman’s appointment, Juers noted that “Boyd has an exceptional track record of delivering results for clients who have trusted him with their assets”.

“He has also developed extensive networks throughout the commercial property sector across his career, which will be hugely valuable to himself and to the agency,” the director expressed.

Juers also highlighted Kaldis and Boyd’s “intimate knowledge of Adelaide’s real estate sector” as fitting perfectly with McGees’ ethos.

“At McGees, we’re thrilled to have Theo and Boyd on deck to help grow the business and impart some knowledge and experience from their decades of experiences to the up-and-coming young commercial property professionals who are the future of the agency,” he concluded.
