LJ Hooker’s online learning portal, Real Edge, offers 24/7 mobile-ready modules that can be accessed anywhere and anytime.

LJ Hooker head of network Graeme Hyde said that with more than 250 interactive learning modules across a raft of engaging multimedia, Real Edge is one of the industry’s leading online training platforms.

“Real Edge offers career advancement for users at any point in their professional lives,” the network head said.

“Whether they are just starting out or generating more than $1 million in gross commission annually, Real Edge hosts tailored, ability-specific content across legislation, theory, CX and best practice standards.”

Mr Hyde said that the downfall of many online platforms was a lack of regulation.

“Agents may think they’re more advanced than they actually are and are at risk of skimming over or ignoring key training components in a bid to complete the course faster.

“It’s a symptom of the nature of the industry ‘fitting in’ training between being on the road meeting with prospects, vendors and buyers.”

But Mr Hyde said that with Real Edge, each LJ Hooker professional receives their own user ID, which enables them and their employer to have a regular report on activities completed as well as how they performed.

“They can only access modules based on clearly outlined performance standards — it’s 100 per cent individual-specific,” Mr Hyde said.

“Real Edge’s reporting dashboard deep-dives into the strengths and weakness[es] of the individual based on their online results, allowing their business owner to identify ongoing activities that their staff member should focus on to become a more rounded sale, property management or administrative specialist.”

Mr Hyde said that LJ Hooker plans key training events “to fuel and support” its teams around major market periods.

Leadership

He said that the centrepiece of the in-person training calendar is LJ Hooker’s Future Captains Program.

Head of LJ Hooker Future Captains Paul Moore said that the program was designed for people who had skills which were transferable to real estate.

“We can offer the building blocks [for] people who are starting out in real estate, offering them the best possible start to their career,” Mr Moore said.

“The Future Captains Program enables us to put newcomers on the path to success faster through goal setting, accountability and commitments to their business owners. Importantly, it allows franchisees to focus on the wider management of their business operations with the peace of mind that their staff are being schooled in proven and cutting-edge techniques for success.”

Graduates of the four-day Future Captains Program are expected to reach the elite Captains Club — the top 15 per cent of LJ Hooker performers — within two years of their course completion.

Mr Moore said that the benefits are immediate.

“Graduates of the 2016 intake wrote an average of $178,000 in gross commission in their second year in real estate, which was a 50.4 per cent increase on their first 12 months’ earnings.

“Accountability is the centrepiece of the Future Captains Program. Graduates make a commitment to themselves and their employer to make the very most out of their career with LJ Hooker.”

LJ Hooker won the Training and Education Program of the Year Award at the 2017 REB Awards.
