Harcourts Applecross principal and licensee Eric Hartanto has secured a ranking in the REB 2022 Top 50 Agents WA for the first time, which he attributed to consistency and sheer hard work.

Mr Hartanto – who has sold over $1 billion worth of properties throughout his career – placed third in this year’s Western Australian rankings.

He sold 118 residential properties in 2021, totalling $152.9 million in settlement values, the third-highest in the rankings.

He also recorded one of the least days on market at eight days and one of the highest number of listings at 145 days.

Speaking to REB about his achievements, Mr Hartanto attributed his successes to building his reputation through hard work, professional service, and robust negotiation skills.

“I also contribute my success to consistency in our system and trusting the process to provide the best outcome for my clients,” he said.

“I always try to be consistent and strive to be the very best. This means working hard on every single lead I get, whether it’s for listings or sales. I’m very pleased to see that all that hard work has paid off.”

Mr Hartanto sold waterfront properties and high-end listings in Perth across Applecross, Mount Pleasant, Attadale, and South Perth last year, along with some properties in the western suburbs.

There was strong buyer demand for premium waterfront properties in Perth due to its geographic attributes and affordability, as well as homes within the top public schools’ catchment areas, Mr Hartanto added.

The COVID-19 crisis created additional buyer activity since residents had amassed savings as they were unable to travel interstate or internationally.

However, Mr Hartanto said he and his staff were not compelled to pivot significantly during the pandemic and associated restrictions as “the processes we have in place have been proven and tested to adapt and thrive in any environment”.

Having been inspired by the results achieved by the other agents who have secured a place in the REB Top 50 Agents rankings across the different states, Mr Hartanto said he is determined to increase his numbers across the key metrics used to determine the rankings.

“We are aiming to raise the bar in terms of sales volume, number of listings, and sale conversion rate,” Mr Hartanto said.

“There is certainly room for improvement and I’m setting myself up towards that direction.”

For other agents in the industry aspiring to succeed and secure a ranking in the future, Mr Hartanto – who has grown his business largely through referrals and repeat clients – advised them to implement a rigorous system and process and “stick to it religiously”.

“Then, it doesn’t matter whether the market is up or down. You will still succeed,” he affirmed.
